Yes, there are other travel sites: big and small, for profit, non-profit, travel blogs, travel photos, travel booking, even travel dating sites. But we offer a unique combination of tools and information for authentic connection with the world around us. By focusing on cultural immersion and positive global development we are creating a community on a mission. Most travel sites are created by web developers and travel consolidators using technology to push existing inventory. We are using powerful tools and technology, authentic experience, shared values and the power of affinity to pull passionate travelers into the fully featured Matador community. Is there an overlap in these markets? Of course. Everybody likes a cheap ticket and you can search and book cheap travel on Matador. But we offer more — the reason to go, the inspiration to take risks, and the resources you need once you arrive at your destination. A travel site should offer more than just information on where to go and how to get there. Matador Travel offers vivid reports from travel writers, who share their findings and experience in community and environmental opportunities, language programs, food, art, sports and music. Commodity sites offer the packaged vacation. Matador Travel provides the resources so you can create your ultimate itinerary, while confidently letting your experience spontaneously unfold.
Matador is a real community. It has a heartbeat. It features real people, traveling to real places, doing amazing things. Where existing sites display vacation blogs, our community foundation guides newcomers to inspirational adventures in culture by giving them the tools to get fully immersed on their trip. It gives Passionate Travelers and those who hope to join them the chance to enlarge their world and truly connect. The Matador Community doesn’t travel to get away from home; we journey to join the rest of the world. |

We are creating a community of adventure athletes, artists, anthropologists, musicians, filmmakers, explorers, activists and writers from all over the world. Our backgrounds and interests are extremely diverse but our experiences have given us values in common: Earth-friendly travel, cultural respect and community empowerment. We are building Matador because we have a passion for travel and know what other Passionate Travelers want and need, but cannot yet find on the Internet.
