Thanks for stopping by my page and browsing my pics - glad to hear you enjoyed them. I look forward to hearing more about your travels.
It's so hard to settle down when you don't know how! I feel you, it does feel like selling out when you finally find a place to actually OWN something. I'm not sure how much I like it yet- but I'm glad I'm not paying rent. It's a good thing, right??
Hmmm...tough question...probably my failsafe is Cooper's Pale Ale...Crown isn't bad. There are some fantastic microbrews here. There's a Kiwi beer called Monteith's I like, they come out with a Summer Ale in the, well, summer. Bluetongue and Little Creatures, also nice beers!
No wine tastings just yet! I've tried plenty of beers though ;)
Fortunately, I'm in the Southern Hemisphere right now, so summer heat isn't a problem. In fact, I'm quite cold (I know, I know, I'm rubbing it in.)
Wish I could go tubing on the Guadalupe, though! One of the funnest things to do in that area in the summer.
I do have a blog! www.maureenmaloney.blogspot.com
btw, I love that you followed metal bands through Australia. So cool!
Welcome aboard Lindi! I also sell out to The Man to fund my lifestyle...and tech too (desktop support), so I actually understood your TCP joke there. I'm not sure if I'm happy about that or not :)
Cheers! Carlo
Profile Full Bio
About me
As a single, adventurous female, I have been willing to sell my soul to The Man to afford opportunities to travel and see the world. By day, I'm a network engineer who solves the worlds networking problems one TCP session at a time. By night and often on the weekends, I'm a solo, adventurous traveler who has had the opportunity to explore South Africa including SCUBA diving with the Great Whites in Durban, Australia, and actually braved English cuisine by living in the UK for a year. As my display name suggests, I'm heavily into metal music which is what took me to Australia for my first concertourism trip. I'm a Roadie not a groupie but I did not pass up the chance to see Metallica in concert Down under while also taking in bars like the 3 Wise Monkeys and visiting the Sydney Olympic stadium. Any time I'm in a new place, be it Cincinnati, OH or Munich, I won't pass up an opportunity to see a local sporting event. Minor league hockey? Aussie Rules Football? Ireland v England Rugby? I'm all in. And I'm just getting started. I've a plethora of stories to share and even more adventures in the future. I've recently started a new blog. It's still a work in progress but it's inspired by Ralph Waldo Emerson's quote, "Do not go where there is a path. But instead go where there is no path and leave a trail".
Why I travel
To learn. To explore. and to love the similarities that make us all human.
Travel style
Solo, vagabonding, business travel, groups of girl friends, and anything else that I can get my hands on
Ideal place to watch the sunrise
summiting an early morning hike at the top of a mountain
Before I die I'd like to
Climb a 14'er, see the Aztec ruins in Mexico, dance under the waterfalls in Peru, and dance in Rio until the sun comes up.
I felt the most immersed in a foreign culture when
I landed in Prague with no set place to stay or idea of what I wanted to accomplish there and a family took me in for the week, showed me their generosity and culture. It was an amazing experience to live like a local in Prague.

Sports I do

Using my travels and adventures to raise money for cancer survivors and be a goddess with Project Athena.
