Thanks for the writing props. It's great to have you here in the community.
Profile Full Bio
About me
I love writing and traveling. I can't imagine a future without either one. Right now, I'm working as a Program Assistant in Public Affairs in Washington, DC. Most of my time is spent writing press releases, grant proposals and reports, blog posts and memos for our campaign to make higher education affordable and accessible to all: www.collegeaffordabilitynow.org. In my spare time, I've always got a pitch brewing and am constantly looking for a story to research and write.
Why I travel
To learn new things about myself and others and make sense of it all via the writing that follows
Travel style
Stress-free and with company!
Ideal place to watch the sunset
At the Vatican in Rome
Ideal place to watch the sunrise
On the beach in Tunisia - and I did!
Before I die I'd like to
Visit every continent and make and keep connections everywhere I go
I felt the most immersed in a foreign culture when
Living there for an extended period, getting to know the people, places, practices
Let's collaborate
I'd like to learn more outlets to share my travel experiences and get pieces of travel writing published in order to share my experience and connect with others/learn from them as well
Sports I do
Running, Pilates
I want to make a difference by
Putting my experiences down on paper; Volunteering in impoverished communities; Living a consciously green and healthy lifestyle.
Tunes I rock out to
Eric Hutchinson, Jason Mraz, Brett Dennen, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Guster, Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, Ben Folds, Ben Harper, Imogen Heap, Ingram Hill, MGMT
Favorite books
The Broom of the System, Walden, Eat Pray Love, The Kite Runner

I've got a new post up at my personal blog, The Pen and Paper Chronicles, that I think you might all enjoy. It looks at forms and variations in perception as a way to tie together all my interests: entertainment, travel, human interaction.

…our undressed lawn becomes a shade of untouched, unflawed white.”
This morning I woke up to a gentle falling white, and a jolting buzzing with the words, “…and it’s snowing.” There’s always something magical about the first snow of the season; this year, for me at least, it came much...

A picture can be worth 1,000 words--or maybe just 100. I chose a photo from my travels abroad in Rome and did a free write, keeping an eye on the wordpress count. Once I hit 100, that was it. The results are...

New post at my personal blog, The Pen and Paper Chronicles.
On Thursdays (what I've deemed "vault day"), I post already reviewed or polished pieces from my past--okay, even rough ones, as most of my writing is.
This week I posted the introduction to a fiction piece, "Yellow...

I grew up in a town with cows and grass and small sandwich shops, where the street lights only flash after 10pm, and as a result, the biggest drama of the year comes when your friend crashes her jeep into the car of a classmate’s mother in town center–a small cross...
