It porsche replica was the worst day on ugg classic tall boots the world's deadliest mountain, Aug. patek philippe fake 1, 2008. Twenty-nine climbers headed omegawatches for the summit. Only 18 cartier watches for women would return.
Alaska you say? Dec-Mar are best for wintertime fun or Jun-Aug for some summerlove. We Alaskans tend to leave during the melt/thaw times for a reason. Also, no trip to The Great Land should be without a stop in Girdwood & the Chugach mtns!
Aloha :D
Moonwalk - now that is something, in my minimal travel experience, I have picked up to share with others!
Thanks so much for this sight.. you guys are incredible. As someone who seeks truly meaningful travel experiences, and usually has to fight pretty hard for them to happen, this whole community is like a glass of cold water. Cheers.
hey, first want to thank you for the work you have done on this site-- it's a tool, not a destination, and it's great. muchissimas gracias. second, i'm curious if you have a story about becoming an adventure guide and if you've already written it or would be willing to share. thanks again. attentivamente, maisie
Thanks Ben, will et in touch with Jenn, cheers.
Thank you very much for the warm welcome - am absolutely loving the site!
I am desperately trying to raise £2000 to put the roof on the health centre in Petifu and provide solar power to run a light bulb and a fridge. In February, when I return to SL, my main focus is to oversee the above and also to meet with ministers again to try and improve the drug supply issues that all rural villages in SL have to endure.
We have a website: www.communityhealthtrust.co.uk and every last penny that we can raise goes directly into the Petifu fund, all travel and expense is paid by myself and anyone wishing to come out there with me would have to pay their own way.
One area I have no knowledge on is solar power - so would welcome anyone with any knowledge dropping me a line.
Thank you very much and will, of course, blog my next trip :-)
thanks Ben.....this site has been great in helping me plan my big euro trip this summer...
Profile Full Bio
About me
I'm a youth worker in San Francisco, part-time adventure travel guide and co-founder of Matador. Work hard, play hard, learn every day, and try to make a difference. I am what I eat and I eat everything except yogurt. What does that mean?
Why I travel
To expand my understanding of myself and the world. To scare myself. To seek out the beautiful and the ugly. To appreciate being HOME.
Travel style
Travel, not to get away, but to join the world. Immersion is the only way to truly experience another person, place or culture. Take off your shoes and stay, only if you're invited. Always seeking wild adventure and new people to show me what I never knew was here.
Ideal place to watch the sunset
18,000 ft up the wrong side of Vulcan Misti after your tent had been beaten by a rogue storm. Or on Mt Tam with someone you love.
Ideal place to watch the sunrise
While you're paddling out completely alone for dawn patrol anywhere you grew up surfing.
Before I die I'd like to
Have a child, build a house, plant a tree, learn to moonwalk, and swim to Alcatraz....
I felt the most immersed in a foreign culture when
Riding in the back of a Peruvian mining truck on a pile of dirt, as the sunset and we returned to Arequipa after being rescued in a rock quarry 30 miles out of town. A miner and I shared a smile, knowing we had both had a tough day.
Let's collaborate
I'm a youth worker, travel guide, and co-founder of this website who likes to get down and move around. We can collaborate on just about anything. Talk to me.
Favorite artist(s)
Salvador Dali and Katsushika Hokusai
Sports I do
Amateur, amateur triathlete, surf, swim, snow, climb, futbol, radminton Italian horseshoes and dominos, and whatever else you wanna do.
I want to make a difference by
Exposing young people to the skills, experiences and resources to become change-makers in their community. And… By creating a large community of creative, well traveled, ambitious, and passionate people who love to live and live to love.
Tunes I rock out to
Anything that comes from the soul. Can't get enough live music even if it's just a harmonica played with flavor. I’ll definitely get down with some Otis Redding, Cee-Lo, Fela Kuti, Rebirth Jazz Band, Little MJ, Mr. Marley, Sizzla, Wolfmother, Bobby Bland, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Miles Davis, and Jimi. I can hear Jimi.
Favorite books
Love em. Eat em for lunch. Last one I ate was Let My People Go Surfing by Yvon Chouinard. Check him out, role model material. Favorite ones I ate were Alchemist and Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius--classics.

The clean, crisp alpine air, the sweet smell of pine trees, the warm, midday sunshine on your back, the mist of a nearby waterfall on your face are all forgotten as you fly 80ft through the sky, limbs flailing, jaw clenched, overwhelmed by terror, exhilaration and gravity. No more thinking, just...

Seriously, everywhere you go in Hong Kong you can take an escalator. Most of the city is built on a mountain so it makes sense, but the amount of escalators really symbolizes the efficiency of infrastructure and lifestyle in the city. You definitely pay for this lifestyle, as the cost of living...

A second to catch up…
I’m a bit behind on the blogs due to the fact that my time on the Internet has been consumed by other work. And I was taken out for a couple days with a jungle infection in my foot from jumping off a waterfall in northern Thailand. But Ross has gotten some good...

Did I mention how dramatically different each city in Spain is? The transition from tranquil, slow paced Sevilla to the crowded, busy streets of Barcelona has been like being thrown into a washing machine. Las Ramblas are packed and every side street, Gaudi monument and beach is full of...

The outdoor markets in Barcelona are a great place to get a feel for the culture. The sights, sounds, tastes, and personal interactions are all on full display at the markets. Each neighborhood in Barcelona has it’s own market and cruising from market to market is a cool way to spend your day...

After about a week in Madrid we packed up our bags gave the gals who let us stay at their place a big hug. We were headed for Sevilla to visit some more of our good friends and spread the word about Matador to the many study abroad programs there.

Ryan and Chari’s wedding was a blast. The ultimate fusion of Spanish American culture. The ceremony was in both Spanish and English in this beautiful garden at a banquet hall about 40 minutes outside of Madrid. Everybody was dressed to a T and all smiles hugs and besos. Ryan and Chari and their...

It’s been almost 5 years since I’ve been back to Madrid and to be honest not much has changed. Maybe a little more development and, according to our taxi driver, a lot more traffic. But at least in the four days that we’ve been here it’s felt like we’ve never left.
