Valldemossa is famous for her Coques de Patatas which is a light pastry you can munch on while walking around the streets. For lunch there are many restaurants avaialble with tupical Mallorcan food, but are usually mediochre cuisine and overpriced for tourists. For a better experience, I suggest you buy a sandwich or a salad in a market and find one of the many silent spots around town which have breathtaking views of the mountains. Deia is perfect for this.

Hostels/ Hotels

There are plenty of B&B's and I think I remember a large 5 star hotel in Valldemossa. I suggest stay at one of the family-run B&B's with incredible views of the mountains and the sea. If you don't want to stay overnight you don't have to, these little towns are better for a day-trip.

Must See

In Valldemossa, don't forget to visit the Carthusian Monastery where Federic Chopin went to recover from pneumonia. If you go in August, concerts are held to conmemorate his visit.

Off the beaten path

Deia is a village that spirals around a mountain top. On the very top is the village cemetery. If there's a place to be buried its this one. Trust me, the views of the near Mediterranean from in between the lush mountains is pricesless.

Practical travel tips

It's very easy to get lost in Valldemossa or Deia. If you do, relax and enjoy!! These are the best palces to get lost because every little nook and corner have a story to tell. On second thought, loose the map and get lost on purpose! (Don't worry, you can't go too far)
