Andres Carne de Res
Mouthwatering cuts of beef, from churrasco to chateaubriand to filet mignon. I did see some enticing seafood platters as well. The menu is more than comprehensive. We started with what appeared to be the world's largest patacon, covered in melted cheese and then followed this with a main of Bife de Chorizo...which was outstanding. The cocktails could knock down a mule.
I cannot remember at what time exactly people decide to leave their tables and cram into every available space to dance. But this party rocks into the early hours. These guys can dance!
The evening starts with a pretty international mix of music. Some of which toopk me back to when I was 14 years old, shocking really! Then as the shadows lengthen the music moves steadily into more of a latin groove, and this works of course, being Colombia.
If you get a chance to talk to Andres himself take it. He speaks little English but is more than happy to share an anecdote or two and pose for the ubiquitous photo.
Here's the hitch. Find a friend with a car, hire a driver, contract a taxi or be prepared to wait out the night and catch a public bus back to Bogota. Chia and Andres Carne de Res is some 40 minutes outside of Bogota.
The decor in this place is all recycled Colombian bric-a-brac giving it a unique feel.
