Favorite places I've been:
Every place has it's charms - if you look for them - even New Jersey :-) I've been in all 50 states except Alaska and West Virgina. North America is absolutely amazing - ranging from the Florida Keys to the San Juan Islands of Washington State. I also love Costa Rica where I've lived and Europe.

Places I want to go to:
After wandering the world for the past five years and working on the road digitally, I'm ready to explore my inner world. I fell in love with Fairfax, California just north of San Fransisco and I'm going to settle in there and focus on the inner journey. With the incredible creativity and beauty in this small town with a big world view who needs to travel far? Of course, I'll still make voyages. But I'm ready for a place to return home to.

About me:
I became a convert to the religion of vagabondism when I was 21 after setting off in a VW Camper bus on a one year road trip of America. When I came back to Minnesota I was not the same. Like a dog that's tasted red meat and can't go back to dry dog food, I've was never again content with a normal stationary life. Now I'm able to manage my online publishing business from any where I can connect and so I do. Vagabonding has evolved into digital vagabonding for me. I advocate this practice of "digital vagabonding" on my DigitalVagabonding.com site.

Hey Pat...I see one of your favourite books is the Power of Now. I haven't read it but I read A New Earth and there are many lessons from it that I try to live by.

If you haven't heard of it yet, check out the documentary "What About Me?" (whataboutme.tv). Eckhart Tolle is one of the featured speakers in the film...it's a beautiful movie that celebrates humanity and has great world music, images and speakers. Check out the website...also, you can see the trailers on YouTube. I'm sure you'll love it.

Julie,

Thank you for sharing the news about the upcoming Digital Vagabonding “Roads Scholarship”. Your notice inspired several excellent proposals from some very interesting vagabonds. Some of them were so well traveled they made me feel like a couch potato by comparison.

If anyone would like to view their Roads Scholarship travel proposals or comment on them, visit http://www.digitalvagabonding.com/road-scholarship

We will be accepting proposals until May 8th, 2009 when the winner will be chosen. The winner will then road trip North America this summer and share their journey on Matador and DigitalVagabonding.com

Their Summer Road Trip will officially end at the Burning Man Festival in the Nevada Desert the first week of September.

I encourage fellow vagabonds to follow the Roads Scholar’s journey and meet them in person at the Burning Man Festival.

Ciao for now, Pat the Digital Vagabond

Today the movie "2012" opens and presents a vision of the world coming to a catastrophic end based on Mayan prophecy. I'd like to share an alternative vision of what 2012 could mean for you, me and our world.

Personally, based on what I've learned from various "experts", 2012 may mark the beginning...

As I soak in a pool of warm spring water, naked humans float silently past like noodles in a soup. In this primordial water, heated deep within mother earth, we float beneath fig leaves that look like lily pads suspended from the night stars. Reflections from distant lights shimmer on the ripples...

I’ve been seeking the elusive “magic bus” ever since I first read the book “The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test” in the mid eighties. This book tells the story of some far out hippies who tripped across America in the 1960’s in a day glow school bus – spreading music, acid and love in...
