Favorite places I've been:
The world is a wonderful place, but if I had to choose, I would say Kenya, Turkey, and of course Italy.

Places I want to go to:
I dream of going to Papua New Guinea, Zanzibar, the Cook Islands... also would love to see the mountain gorillas in Uganda.

About me:
I have worked in a hospital in Guatemala City just after the ceasefire in 1996, lived in a hut on the African savannah, lived in England during the Mad Cow Disease scare (can't donate blood because of this), slept under the stars in the Australian Outback, and gotten my rental car stuck in the capillaries of a Sicilian mountain village. I do medical/science writing as a day job, and freelance ficiton and travel writing at night. I have published on Transitions abroad, won a nationwide short story competition, and was runner up in Transitions Abroad 2008 narrative travel writing competition.

I LOVED your expensive cities piece and would like to ask Paul Theroux the same thing. Most overrated travel writer?
