I Knew it Had to Happen!

By GodzookieNYC  |  Location: United States  |  04/10/08  |  Pics: 0

I recently decided to return to North Carolina to finish up my BA degree in History. Somewhat hesitantly I packed up my apartment in Brooklyn and headed back to my roots. Living in NYC and Boston since 2001 was an amazing experience, but I felt like I needed the get THAT DEGREE. I wasn't really looking...

By GodzookieNYC  |  Location: United States  |  08/30/07  |  Pics: 0

I've lived in NYC.well Brooklyn, for a few years now. We all know how varied and interesting this city is and how it's pretty easy to get whatever you want whenever you want. Last week I made a trip down to Brighton Beach, a Russian enclave near Coney Island. This is my story...

Brighton Beach is a...

Bring a Lunch

By GodzookieNYC  |  Location: United States  |  05/01/07  |  Pics: 0

A few years ago, I was in between tours and found myself in Atlanta, GA visiting friends. I had gone down there last minute on a one-way flight from somewhere. My intention was to head north and visit the folks in North Carolina after Atlanta. My research on flights, especially to out of the way coastal...

Heaven Covered in Grease

By GodzookieNYC  |  Location: Netherlands  |  04/21/07  |  Pics: 1

On my recent trip to Amsterdam, I fell prey to a hot, salty and greasy dish we like to call french fries. Or should I say Dutch or Belgian fries? I am a fan of fries the world over, but for some reason this guys really struck me as magnificent. Fresh and hot I attacked them after a long night on the...

Best Pizza in NYC

By GodzookieNYC  |  Location: United States  |  04/15/07  |  Pics: 0

The debate over the best pizza in New York City has been raging for decades. Everyone is a critic and everyone has their own opinion. So do I. For me, being a southern transplant and growing up on terrible pizza, my money is on Two Boots. Two Boots is a East Village institution since 1987 and has...

Southern Get Away

By GodzookieNYC  |  Location: United States  |  04/15/07  |  Pics: 0

If you guys out there are looking for a quiet getaway that will leave you feeling recharged and refreshed, might I suggest the Outerbanks of North Carolina. **Disclaimer** I grew up there, so I am a bit biased.
Situated midway down the East coast of the US and about an hour from the closet airport,...

Oh Omaha!!

By GodzookieNYC  |  Location: United States  |  03/30/07  |  Pics: 0

Faced with a day off in Omaha Nebraska on one of my rock band tours, I was not looking forward to it at all. I was pleasantly surpised to find that Omaha has a hip little district downtown called Old Market that had plenty of resturants and shops to keep us occupied for 24 hrs.
The best find, for...

Berlin- Sushi Capital of the World?

By GodzookieNYC  |  Location: Germany  |  03/30/07  |  Pics: 0

I've eaten Sushi all over the US and a few cities in Europe. I am in no way an authority on it, but I know what is good. At least in my world. So on a recent trip to Berlin, I was really surprised at the quality of Sushi. Particularly at one restaurant that was recommend to me.

My NYC

By GodzookieNYC  |  Location: United States  |  03/30/07  |  Pics: 0

I've lived in NYC for almost four years. I currently live in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. The neighborhood is a primarily Polish enclave with an ever increasing influx of young folks like myself who are trying to live the NYC life without paying the price. I lucked out with my apartment and plan on staying...
