I'm fired up on:

Global thinking. I love open-minded people who are not afraid to leave their county to explore. I spend my time writing on my MacBook, e-mailing friends, uploading photos on a photoblog, taking photos with my digital SLR, meeting and interviewing interesting people for news and features articles in various publications. I also enjoy shopping, reading and roller blading. My favorite sports to watch live are basketball and hockey. My favorite people: my husband, Dave, my best friend, Luci, and soon-to-be, my baby, Shayla.

Tunes I rock out to:

Phantom of the Opera soundtrack; Fergie; Third Day; Chris Tomlin; Def Leppard; Journey; pretty much all jazz, reggae, alternative rock and just about anything 70s and 80s.

Travel style:

I like to travel either by myself with an open mind, or on an exploration vacation with my husband or friends. I like to go where the locals go; do as the locals do.

Nobody around speaks a lick of English and I have to find my way around.

Why I travel:

Traveling is a state of mind. However, traveling to understand humanity in other parts of the world helps us understand who we are and appreciate where we've come from. Travel is also the vehicle through which we learn to change our world view and perspective on life, one travel adventure at a time. In essence, each time we travel, the experience itself changes a little bit of who we are as a person.

at dusk on Waikiki beach with a loved one

Before I die I'd like to:

Be a successful travel writer and also write about missionary lifestyles around the world.
