I'm a passionate writer and traveler who recently returned from 14 months around the world with my husband. I'm at my best when helping others, and am seeking our next global experience with the aim of providing service to those in need. Perhaps teaching ESL in a third-world country, working in the Peace Corps in Africa, or helping villagers in Indonesia. I have a knack for foreign languages, and I feel pretty stale sitting here in the U.S. right now when I'd rather be somewhere more exotic that feeds my soul.

Travel style:

I prefer traveling with my husband, a backpack, a journal, and an open itinerary. I love showing up at an airport and deciding which plane to catch next, or waking up at 6am in Ethiopia knowing that in under six hours, I'll be making my way through the crazy streets of New Delhi.

...helping those less fortunate than I am, and in general feeling like I'm being of service to other people. I'm also reducing my footprint on the planet and am completely obsessed with minimalism and reducing/reusing/recycling.

I felt the most immersed in a foreign culture when:

Volunteering in remote western Kenya, teaching English in primary schools there, and working with a local orphanage.

Why I travel:

Because it feeds my soul and introduces me to people and cultures you can't really imagine here in the States. I feel alive, excited, and connected to the world while I'm traveling.

Foremost I'm a writer looking to publish a variety of travel essays and insights based on experiences I've had while traveling around the world for 14 months. In addition, my husband and I have over 3,000 photos from our journey. My focus is on dogs and other animals, and I'd love to get some of those in print (e.g., dog note cards, animals of the world note cards, photo essays, gift books).
