Expert Costa RicaI am now on my third (though non-consecutive) year living in Costa Rica. My first year was spent teaching English in the town of Heredia, near the capital of San Jose. This is where I fell in love with Costa Rica (and with my fiance, which didn't hurt my feelings for this place). We returned to Costa Rica after two years spent traveling and teaching to run a small backpacker-type bed and breakfast in Alajeula, near the airport. Doing this helped us to learn a ton about the country: places to stay, tours, off-the-beaten track destinations. Most recently, we returned to Costa after almost one year living near Seattle when I was offered a job in Atenas, also in the Central Valley, touted as having the best climate in the world. I teach Literature History and Art at a boarding school and get to travel with the students quite a bit. Through this, and through the fact that my fiance is now a full-time travel writer here, we are learning even more about this fantastic place, so feel free to let the questions roll. Pura Vida!
