Disneyland (duh! .. haha), London, Siena, Firenze, Cinque Terre, Paris, Strasbourg, Tanzania, Barcelona, Vancouver, Beijing, Tokyo, Sydney, New Orleans, and although it was a strange experience, I'll never forget COCHIN, INDIA!

Brazil, Antartica

About me:

JAMBO! I've studied abroad three times (Cambridge, Oxford and Siena), I know six(ish) different languages, I can play six different instruments, and I taught myself sign-language. I am not fluent in Swahili, but I learned a bit from drivers while on a month-long safari in Africa! Although I was born and raised in California, I have a Canadian citizenship as well (and I like to joke that I was "Made in Canada") ... I'm Chinese... BUT I look half Eskimo and half Mayan (It's true! I'm often mistaken for an Eskimayan!) ... and I've been traveling the world ever since I was an itty-bitty girl!

I'm fired up on:

learning new languages, street shopping, exploring museums, getting lost in foreign towns where you don't speak the language, amateur photography, making videos on youtube, playing video games (I will KICK YOUR BUTT in Halo/Mario Kart/Tetris/Rock*Band/just about anything!!), reading a good book on the beach, frolicking with puppies, gelato *yum!!*

Tunes I rock out to:

rock and freaking roll: if i've got the wind in my hair and i'm just cruisin, some Red Hot Chili Peppers and Smashing Pumpkins make it a million times more awesome. if i'm watching a lion slaughter a buffalo, i like Muse or Nine Inch Nails... if my traveling companions are pissing me off, Senses Fail and Finch (screamo!) are the thing for me... and when I'm just in a happy, giddy, frolicking mood, there's no going wrong with Disney soundtracks, Mika, or Weezer! If I just wanna relax and have my mind glaze over, you'll see Radiohead and Sigur Ros playing on my iPod! And RYAN ADAMS is a good pick for just about any time! :D

Travel style:

I've traveled every single way: by planes (many that were just the size of little vans!), on boats/cruises (everywhere from the Mediterranean, to the Caribbean, up the Nile, and down the YangTze River!), by trains (some within 5 minutes of each other, across town, with 200 lbs of luggage, all alone because I missed a flight!)... I've traveled with my family, my extended family, with friends, and even alone! I can go from rolling suitcases to a small backpack ... but my favorite way to travel is on a whim, to a small european town, with just a backpack, some good tunes, a few great friends, and a bottle of wine.

Sports I do:

I don't "do" sports ... I watch them! (Goooo SJ Sharks!!)

Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk and Harry Potter 4 by JK Rowling.

Who I'd like to meet on my travels:

just about anyone - street performers, people have been married for 60 years, backpackers, strangers, Anthony Bourdain! (I've met him twice already!) and Samantha Brown.

I want to make a difference by:

helping others who are less fortunate, mainly those whose voices aren't being heard.

Languages spoken, other than English:

mandarin, spanish, french, italian, and i understand cantonese and a little bit of Swahili!

I felt the most immersed in a foreign culture when:

learning the language, going fishing with the locals, shopping/bargaining in alley ways, getting bitten by weird bugs, going to pubs and sharing some good stories over a beer and a plate of fish n chips.

Why I travel:

because it's invigorating and it gives you a new perspective on life. (oh yeah, it's also FUN!)

Ideal place to watch the sunrise:

Piazza del Campo (Siena, Italy), and the Serengeti (Tanzania, Africa)

Ideal place to watch the sunset:

Stinson Beach, CA and Riomaggiore (Cinque Terre, Italy)

Before I die I'd like to:

get married in Santorini, have five children, adopt three more, be the coolest grandma on earth, and be as successful, generous, loving and compassionate as my father has been his entire life (and hopefully continue to support the many orphanages/schools/churches he had started in China ... and perhaps start a few of my own in Africa!)

No worries, it is a great piece.
You are correct in that Ramsey is an a**hole, but he is a God in this country. My husband works at a resort here and the chefs there all aspire to his direction. They call the head chef Ramsey Junior, hehe. The pom don't like it much, but he uses it to his advantage on these young apprentices.
I'll look up the bloke, definately check out the book Maybe Andy (the head chef) would benefit from a new role model. hehe
