I've lived in Paris for over two years and had been working as a tour guide in France for several years before that. I now organise and lead trips around both Paris, Loire Valley, Provence and other areas of France(and Europe).
Being both a local, and a guide lets me experience the best of both worlds - the must see sights and the 'local scence' that many visitors don't get to experience.

Hey Matt,

just added you to my network. How do you find guiding in France? I used to be a tour leader in Egypt, Jordan and (occasionally) Tunisia, so really enjoyed your article on the network about being a tour guide. I still sort of miss it, but did find it hard to put up with people when they were obnoxious! Plus, there's only so many times you can get up at 3 am to visit Abu Simbel temple ... again!

Nepal was my favorite out of the category you listed, absolutely stunning. How was Alaska? Considered taking an Alaskan Cruise but figure it wouldn't be the same as on foot.
