Kenya: Nairobi, but also in the rural areas like East Pokot and at the foot of Kilimanjaro. Monrovia, Liberia. Lake Como, Italy. Porto, Portugal. New York and San Fransco, USA. London, UK. North of the Polar Circle in Norway and Finland. Sevromorsk, Russia. Helsinki, Finland.... and the list goes on and on....

About me:

I love to travel (goes without saying... lol), but the touristy places make my skin crawl. I admit to going to those places, too, but I try to get out of the crowds somehow. Plus much of my travel I do while looking into humanitarian related issues or while volunteering for ngo's out in the field. This takes me to marvelous places that you have to be an untourist to even consider. I love how it gets me close to other ways of life. Want to know more about my work and me? I'm fired up on:

Writing and photography are not only my job, they are my passion and much of my life. I am also very into human rights and humanitarian issues. Cultural addict, but enjoy what nature has to offer. I am a people-person; always curious about what makes others tick. And I am told that I can whip up a mean meal, which I personally love to share with others. Either a whole gang or that someone special...

Travel style:

Except for on a package trip, you can find me practically everywhere. I enjoy traveling solo. It makes me have to interact with new people all the time. I sometimes take my writing assignments with me to a new place and live the writer-cliché. I can travel with others, but under the condition of total freedom. No siamese-twin tendencies or there is only one trip together. Won't travel twice with someone who has to cling together 24/7. Otherwise I take my kids - 2 boys now 11 and 15, with me at times. Like last year. I took them on one of my trips to Kenya, during which they lived with the Maasai in their mudhuts far from modern life and tourists. Our next trip together will be to backpack through Europe this summer. I hope very soon to be able to take them with me to India.

Sharing what I learn about life with others. I am currently working on a documentary on female genital mutilation.

Norwegian, some German and currently learning Spanish.

when I forget that I stick out like a soar thumb, but feel convinced that I blend in...

Why I travel:

because I cannot not travel. Nor do I want to. My inner world expands each time I see a new site, hear a new sound and smell something new. My heart breaks time and time again at some of what I see, but is made full again at the slightest sign of beauty.
