Ever-changing but usually where ever I traveled last.

My most memorable travel experiences have been: Saving sea turtles on South Padre Island for a week. Climbing Mount Bierstadt at 2am and watching the sunrise from summit. Volunteering at an orphanage in Northern Czech Republic.

My travel bucket list is longer than a transatlantic cruise. To name a few, I'd love to go swimming in Devil's Pool at the edge of Victoria Falls, eat a pizza in Naples and perhaps try my hand tobogganing in somewhere in the Arctic Circle.

I'm gearing up to head to South Korea next month to volunteer at a camp for children in Jeollanam-do, followed by a sort of Tour de South Korea before heading back to the States come fall.

About me:

I'm a twenty-something journalist who works for a city magazine in the Midwest. According to my diploma I'm a writer, geographer and political scientist. But really, I prefer traveler.

I've never owned a car but do ride a vintage Schwinn, I take my popcorn with m+ms, I still get quite scared of the dark, and I believe any bad mood can be cured with an episode of America's Funniest Home Videos and decent carry-out.

Travel style:

I've traveled alone and in groups with as many as 20 people. I've traveled with my best friend and with my boyfriend. I've couchsurfed, slept in hostels and stayed in 5 star hotels. I'm open to trying any style of traveling, although I've found the most rewarding trips are those with a backpack, a friend (new or old), a locals couch to crash on and no itinerary.

When I forgo any form of itinerary and couchsurf with a local.

Why I travel:

For life-changing, horizon-broadening, perspective gaining experiences.

Ideal place to watch the sunrise:

After a sunsrise hike up Mount Bierstadt (or any mountain) at the summit marker.

Ideal place to watch the sunset:

I've started a tradition of doing this in every place I visit. I think the most remarkable sunset I've seen was mid-air on a flight to Europe.

Before I die I'd like to:

My list is so long but to name a few: set foot (legitimately) on every continent, break a bone, learn another language fluently, dedicate at least an entire year to volunteering, and drive cross-country in an RV (preferable a vintage airstream).

You've got great spirit! Are you going to Prague in the summer of 09? I might be in the area around the same time.... looking into my roots in Slovakia and spending time in both the Czech Rep. and Slovakia.
