About me:
I am a writer who has also worked as a public relations consultant, surf instructor, waitress, SAT tutor, and soul and funk radio show host. I graduated from Columbia University in New York City where I learned one essential life skill: how to surf. Since then, I have been surfing and writing my way around the world, from South Africa to Guatemala. When I'm in my native USA, I spend time on the beaches of Queens and in the music clubs of New Orleans. I am currently working on a novel about mermaids.

On the treadmill, I am going nowhere.  My breath comes out in short gasps, my sneakers roaring in deafening thwacks as the conveyor belt circles round.  In front of me, a show about a horseback rider with cancer flickers silently on the TV.  I take a breath and keep on going.
