Travel style:

I mostly travel alone in the most remote or unique places that allow me to fully experience culture, history, nature, and as much as possible. Travel and holiday-making are different, and finding one's self lost is the greatest gift travel can offer.

Sports I do:

Skiing, sailing, scuba diving, mountaineering, trekking

Favorite books:

The Stranger by Albert Camus, The Purple Land by W.H. Hudson, In Patagonia by Bruce Chatwin, An Area of Darkness by V.S. Naipaul, Heart of Darkness by Joesph Conrad, Amerika by Franz Kafka, Narcissus and Goldman by Herman Hesse,and much more

I want to make a difference by:

Opening a few minds

German, Spanish, and a vague, choppy command of some others

I felt the most immersed in a foreign culture when:

I am butchering the local tongue with natives and have no idea which direction is north.

On the ocean, not the beach, the ocean or after a long day of trekking in the Himalaya

Before I die I'd like to:

Live on every continent, climb four of the Seven Summits, bathe in the Ganges (despite the pollution), build a sea-worthy schooner, live on it and sail it, become successful enough to support myself with nothing more than writing
