The best is when I know someone in the country to take me to the local hangs, but a quality traveling buddy and a "don't want to miss anything" attitude works too.

Before I die I'd like to:

go heliboarding; roadtrip across the US; live in another country for a couple of years; sail to Hawaii; and become a wine connaisseur and a pirate with or without a peg leg

Hey- just saw you're looking for advice for Machu Picchu, so i figured i'll say what I did down there:

-definitely book inca trail ahead of time (SAS travel is a great tour to do the inca trail with).

-don't have your camera stolen after 4 days of taking pictures of the inca trail and Machu Picchu without downloading the pics first. i learned my lesson

-hang out in Cuzco for a few days. it's really cool. (even if you have your camera stolen)

(This should be somewhat useful- Unless of course there's a place called manchu picchu that i'm unaware of.. feel free to hit me up with any questions)
