I grew up in Brooklyn, but spent a lot of time up in the Adirondack mountains in upstate New York, where my family has a couple of yurts (I'm attaching some pics). The whole compound has a Swiss Family Robinson-esque feel to it - with no plumbing or electricty, and lots of random wooden structures scattered over 40 acres. I went to school out at Colorado College, where I studied history and journalism, and did my best to explore the mountains, rivers, and canyons of the west. After graduation, I followed my brother down to the Bahamas, where I worked for 18 months out of the Cape Eleuthera Institute, a research institution for marine science and sustainable development. Now I'm back in Brooklyn, trying to procure myself a job in international/community development in the city.
