Favorite places I've been:

anywhere in Tuva (bonus points if you know where that is!), Palestinian refugee camps, sipping cocktails in St. Croix, foraging for street food in Bangkok, and Manhattan for the chocolate Sunday brunch at Seppi's

Places I want to go to:

On my way to Peru in Aug 2007! Bhutan is the Holy Grail (possibly, March 2008). This list could get very long. Antarctica, Cape Town, all over OZ, villages in China, Paris for coffee, Brazil, India, Nepal and, if I'm ever brave enough, Everest Base Camp! Yeah, easy answer: everywhere.

About me:

Air, water, food, travel, writing. In that order. Depending on the day, I might switch those life necessities around. Just a bit. I'm a culture shock junkie, which is probably why New York City is home base. Writing is my passion, and one day, my bread and butter.

I'm fired up on:

Travel writing! My first check, from Student Traveler Magazine, is framed in an unnecessarily prominent place in my apartment. There's something about delivering the world through words that gets me revved up.

I'm also into rock climbing, hiking, and kicking back with a glass of wine and good friends.

Travel style:

A different way, every time. I've traveled in groups, solo, backpack, luxury, hostel, hotel, home stays, beaches, villages, metropolises...no rules. For me, that's best.

I want to make a difference by:

Lighting a fire in people to explore unknown places. Travel opens your eyes to other worlds, people, cultures. Somehow, looking at yourself through the mirror of travel, traits like greed, hatred, and selfishness seem to fade. They are replaced by tolerance, compassion, and generosity.

Why I travel:

I travel to somehow, in the 80+ years I'm on this earth, understand life. Appreciate it. Share it.
