Favorite places I've been:
Montreal has the romantic glamour of a European city, complete with its own French-Canadian dialect. English-speaking travellers will also be surprised that this Canadian city speaks English just as well as French, making visits a breeze. But trying your luck speaking French is an extra piece of enjoyment in the city of daily festivities.
New York City has a unique charm to it that still hasn't unravelled its true form to me yet. In short, those spurts of deja vu you have? It's most likely because of the myriad of films and TV shows that've filmed here. The sheer size of the city drops your jaw, and you stop to contemplate how the island of Manhattan has not sunk into the water yet. And when you do stop, you realise you're the only one in the whole city that isn't busy, as the city never stops.
Prague has also been a haven of peace and tranquility, as well as energy and pace. A city which is known for its cheap beer and late-night partying, Prague also has some of Europe's most beautiful castles, churches and parks.

Places I want to go to:
A stop in Berlin and up to Amsterdam tickles my curiosity. After that, who knows?

About me:
G'day everyone, Gerard here. How are we all today?
I am currently a freelance journalist newbie, writing for a computer game magazine (I wish not to promote the name as it would be free publicity and journalists wish not to give out such promotions to their boss/es). I've written in other things, some good and bad. Let's just keep those as memories.
Moving on! I like playing video games, and can quote Family Guy a little too well. I love strumming on my purrty L.A 6-string, and when I learn to play WELL, then I'll start grinning.
I left Perth June 12th and I'm travelling the world for a year. Yes, the most isolated place on Earth, my home, is now a lot more distant to me. I will be back though. Couldn't just leave my things here. So many things!
But I have backpacked through the North Americas, a bit of Eastern, Central and Western Europe, and on my way back home I plan to go to Russia, China, Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand. It's a hefty plan, but also extremely exciting.

I couldn't quite figure out who that commander was on these posters around Croatia. My only guess was that he was considered a hero amongst the Croatian and Serbian war of '95. You never see a hero being advertised around Perth. Our heroes are the unsung ones. Like parents, good friends, or the ice-cream...

My hostel - the only hostel in Zadar - was in Puntamika. Puntamika was described as a bus ride away from Zadar. I'm ignoring the fact that you would need to carry your backpack, but I could've walked there. But it was only 8 kunas ($2 AUD), so stress levels weren't totally going crazy.

Dominic was a roundish fellow with a rosy complexion and glasses. He was my roommate in the sleeper train I was in to Zurich, before heading to Interlaken. The room was designed to hold six people for sleep when needed, but we were on the bottom seats, with plenty of room above - by train standards -...
