About me:
I'm into language and people. I speak French and Spanish fluently and have picked up some Flemish (spoken in the north of Belgium) and Catalan (spoken in Catalunya in the north of Spain where Barcelona is located). I've been traveling as a lifestyle for the past three or four years... that is moving to a place temporarily and living there to pick up the language and culture. In the last five years I've lived in France, New York City, Belgium, Santa Barbara (my home town), and Spain ... Been teaching English to little kids thanks to an amazing network of Marquis and Counts who know their kids need to know English and figure they may as well start early (why didn't my parents do that??)... Have been seduced by the romantic lifestyle of Europe, it's history and culture, and I've written a library of journals about my experiences; yet, still, I'm in love with Santa Barbara. Maybe one day I'll go home...

Hey, I searched 'Spain' and 'surfing' and your name popped up - ever been to Asturias? Just published this guide and it sounds like heaven on earth.

Hullo,
I'm Aleta from Alaska and am currently in Barcelona--a fellow american traveller trying to "impart a better image of americans abroad."
I've been in Barcelona for about a month now, and in Europe for nearly two months. I was curious how long you stayed in Barcelona. As far as I know, American's get 90 days stay before they must leave the country. Do you know if it is possible (or likely) that an American could get an stay extension? In some countries it's pretty simple to get an passport stay extension (like another 90 days) or would I have to physically leave the country for a few days before I could return again for another 90?
I've no idea what your situation was/is like in Barcelona, but I'd really appreciate if you had some knowledge on that topic. Thanks!

A small bar in Barcelona's Eixample Dret called Embruix (Catalan for "bewitched") is a great place to spend a Friday evening with a local artsy crowd. With live music from sweet Brazilian guitar tunes reminiscent of Gilberto Gil, to American oldies, to Spanish pop, to open jam sessions, the vibe is...

Check out ANDALUCIA during SEMANA SANTA.
Hooded PENITENTES (looking eerily much like KKK marchers) in their SILK robes and conical HOODS marching for hours, carrying their floats or "pasos" from their church to the Cathedral and back... the VIRGEN atop surrounded by CANDLES, shouldered by members of...
