About me:

I love to travel (obviously) but am usually too broke to take the big trips like I used to. I studied abroad in Cork, Ireland in 2002; walked el Camino de Santiago from Pamplona to Santiago de Compostela (that's around 500 miles); and once hit up 7 European countries in 14 days.

Besides traveling I like to write, read, paint, sail, kayak, swim, walk, cook, eat, live, and love. I'm currently a graduate student of history and I teach after school activities like writing and photography to middle schoolers.

Travel style:

Spontaneity has produced the best trips for me. I like a simple plan to begin with the expectation that it will change along the way. I also like my trips to have some point or goal (climb a mountain, visit as many viking sites as I can, walk 500 miles to save your soul, etc), rather than just wandering aimlessly -- although I've had plenty of fun doing that too. I love to read everything I can about a place either before or after I've been there, especially all its history. I'm more into natural areas than big cities...but again, I've had a lot of fun both.

sailing, softball, swimming

Learning more about other cultures. Seeing other ways of life that are gentler on the earth than Americans.
