About me:

I direct a non-profit called Living Routes, which partners with the University of Massachusetts - Amherst to run college-level study abroad programs based in ecovillages around the world.

I often travel on my own, but it is usually to ecovillages/communities for work. I'd like to do more nature travel.

I felt the most immersed in a foreign culture when:

Sitting on the grossest squat toilet in the world in an indigenous village in Senegal that rarely sees westerners.

Why I travel:

Mostly for work, which I love.

Before I die I'd like to:

Develop Living Routes into a "communiversity"; change the field of study abroad to become more sustainable; help travelers measure and reduce their negative environmental impacts; kiss my great-grandchildren.

The idea of study abroad programs in eco villages is truly inspirational.
