About me:

I've lived and worked as teacher in 4 foreign countries in addition to my native one. I tend to prefer mountains to the beach, night trains to flying, ale to lager, white rice to the egg fried variety, Slavia to Sparta.

Making the world a better place and enjoying the few short years we each have on this planet. Trekking (particularly in the mountains), history, archeology, trying local food, photography, sketching, writing, and sports (as participant and fan)

traveling the world and teaching children the value of travel and learning about other cultures

I felt the most immersed in a foreign culture when:

charging the pitch with the ultras after Sigma Olomouc (Cz) wrapped up a UEFA Cup place in 2004. I almost broke my neck hopping the fence.

Why I travel:

Growing up all I did was read, especially history. This imbedded in me a deep desire to see the places of which I read. This cycle continues today.

Ideal place to watch the sunrise:

The top of TaiShan, the holiest mountain in China, unless it's foggy, which it always is

Ideal place to watch the sunset:

watching falcons circle over Ile de Mogodor from the ruins of Bordj ell Berod while listening to Jimi's "Castles Made of Sand" on the Ipod
