everywhere ......... my goal is Madagascar, Madagascar, Madagascar. it is a circus island in the indian ocean ... just hang a right after africa.

About me:

i'm tribal and i'm a lone wolf. we are all collections of contradictions. i've been trying to root myself in my hometown Portland,OR after many years drifting. want to use PDX as a home base for more focused adventures.

I'm fired up on:

ok ... i want to change the world and at the same time i want it to leave me alone. i want to experience this life well and i stumble at it all the time. it's all contradictions and tensions and glorious. my first art should be my life. so i'm fired up on loving and living and tending to my stregnths. i want to tell a story that is heard. i want to stand with those who stand outside a self-abusive consumer culture that is homogenizing the world. i want to be spontaneous. i want glory. i want privacy. i want an audience. i don't want to die ... but i will. i want to be gentle and strong. i want us to wake up and see ourselves and have grace with ourselves and learn how to enjoy this ride. that's what fires me up.

I felt the most immersed in a foreign culture when:

an emergency room visit on the island of Crete when i fell in a ravine and thought i might have broken my back. "you have not taken your pee test. you should know that when you go for ex-ray you ask for little cup for pee test. you are not five!" it was a long night.

Why I travel:

to see. to know. to adventure. to stretch. to play. to learn. to feel alive. to run. to escape. to discover. etc. etc.

Ideal place to watch the sunrise:

on a large boulder, just under the rim of the Grand Canyon

Ideal place to watch the sunset:

Oia, island of Santorini, Greece - but behind and above the town at the little church at the top, rather than from the goyla where all the tourists flock to watch

Before I die I'd like to:

Let's collaborate:

currently working on a book about a two-month journey in Greece. collaborating with a comic sketch artist who went with me. interested in telling unique travel tales and fusing the literature with visual arts, but definitely just cutting my teeth. i am cheechaco, greenhorn. the environment and our relationship to it seems to be the most important and compelling story of our age, so i would be interested in spending time with any projects in this field to cull a tale from the experience.
