About me:

I've lived in Ouray for 21 years, but have spent the past 7 winters in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I love to travel, but decided I needed more money to do that....so I now have my real estate license and am trying to sell a few houses in order to retire.....probably in Mexico. Summers in Colorado and winters in Mexico is the best of both worlds. I bartend for extra money. I raised my daughter in Ouray, and she now lives in New York.

I'm fired up on:

I love to read, watch movies, meditate and teach meditation....but probably am most passionate about travel. I mostly love tropical Mexico....the beaches, the warmth, palm trees, and especially the warmth and friendliness of the people that live there. I love music and dancing and lots and lots of friends.

Tunes I rock out to:

I love oldies (60s and 70s) and I love to dance to salsa or any kind of latin beat.

Travel style:

I've mostly traveled alone...driving through Mexico, staying where I feel like, going where I want to do, stopping when I want. I like funky little hotels in the central areas more than expensive, all-inclusive type hotels (yech). I believe in following my intuition as to places to go and things to do. Definitely wouldn't like a cruise or organized trip of any sort.

Favorite books:

Couldn't possibly choose, but off the top of my head.....Isabel Allende for historical novels, and I like thrillers (Greg Iles, Dean Koontz, Patterson, Kellerman, etc.)

I want to make a difference by:

Teaching people (that ask) about meditation and how to become one with their higher selves.

Languages spoken, other than English:

Spanish

I felt the most immersed in a foreign culture when:

I went to Peru and visited Cuzco, Machu Picchu, Lima, Lake Titicaca and Nazca.

Ideal place to watch the sunrise:

In the little village of Tejuamixtle, Mexico, seeing the sun come up and watch the fishermen going out in their little pongas.

Ideal place to watch the sunset:

At the pier on Playa Los Muertos in Puerto Vallarta with all my good friends

Before I die I'd like to:

See Italy and Greece

Ouray and Mexico...not a bad combination at all.

Welcome to Matador, Colleen - if you have any drafts of stories about really special, off-beat spots on the Mexican coast, I would love to read them.

Thanks for the encouragement. This is all new to me. I definitely have some stories, so I'll try to work on some. Your profile is amazing. You've traveled so much, and I envy you. I'm going to read some of your stories now, and soon I'll have some of my own.
