I was born in Bucharest on a sunny Wednesday 20some years ago and lived there for a good deal of them. I still go back a few times a year, and Romanian news feeds are still among the first things I read in the morning - speaking of which, do not be deterred by the fact that we have just suspended our president (on April 20something 2007); we're still some of the friendliest people you'll ever meet in your travels. So, from vampires to world heritage orthodox churches, from "tuica" (grappa/ouzo/vodka who?) shared at a five-hour lunch in a scenic village to Bucharest's trendiest clubs, feel free to ask anything...and enjoy your travels!

Toscana, Italy; Sahara; Chiang Mai, Thailand; Corsica,France; Campeche,Tulum, Mexico; London, UK; Matmata, Tunisia; Montreux, Switzerland; Karnak, Egypt; Meteora, Greece; Scuba sites: Dahab, Koh Tao, Cozumel.

I'm fired up on:

Travel, music, life, love, everything water, anything elephants, written words, ice skating, sculpture, scuba diving, sailing, airports, plane rides accross deserts in shabby cardboard planes, trains, countryside buses, motorcycles, the smell of freshly sharpened pencils, avocados & pomegranates, good dialogues, long-winded inner monologues.

Tunes I rock out to:

jazz, swing, the 40-50s, bill evans, miles, monk, acid jazz. a lot of other good music that's out there. music i find when i travel. latest hooks: two fellow travelers i met in my last yourney: tim easton and black taxi.

Travel style:

Backpack, notebook, pencils & pencil sharpener, camera & charger, toothbrush. By myslef or with some bunch of amazing people.

I want to make a difference by:

Learning. Taking it all in and giving back as much as I can. It's utopic to think I could give back more than I receive, because every snapshot of life I catch a glimpse of when I travel is already an over-the-top gift I'm receiving. Doing my part to be someone else's momentary glimpse of a snapshot of life.

Languages spoken, other than English:

Italian, French, Spanish, Romanian, some Portuguese, some (less) Japanese.

I felt the most immersed in a foreign culture when:

Singing the Chang song (the elephant, not the beer!) in the jungle with Burmese kids while on the look-out for wild elephants.

Why I travel:

To live, learn, love, give, laugh, help, meet, discover, lose, change and start over again.

Ideal place to watch the sunrise:

Anywhere I can see the sun being born from the ocean.

Ideal place to watch the sunset:

Anywhere the sun takes a break from us and goes back to rest in the ocean.

Before I die I'd like to:

Keep travelling. Live. Love. Have children. Matter. Smile and laugh through it all.
