Everywhere but for now I'll limit the list to my current location of Asia: Xinjiang, Qinghai and Tibet; Nepal, India, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia

Logistically speaking, I live in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China and am currently studying Chinese and teaching English to beautiful Chinese children while trying to figure out where to go next.......

I'm fired up on:

I study Linguistics and Anthropology so I love living abroad, in China for the moment, although Zhongwen hen nan! I also love the outdoors and nature. You could call me somewhat of a hippie.

Tunes I rock out to:

I like a wide variety of music but my faves are (as of late) Iron and Wine, Richard Ashcroft, Sigur Ros, Wilco, Bright Eyes, Radiohead, Bob Dylan, John Francis, Adrian Crowley and newly discovered Rosie Thomas and Sufjan Stevens

Travel style:

I like to pack a few things in my backpack and hit the road with only a vague idea of where I'd like to go and see where the wind takes me. I don't mind traveling solo because I've always met amazing people along the way but it's always nice to have a good friend by your side to share experiences with.

I felt the most immersed in a foreign culture when:

Singing karaoke in Chinese with some friends we met at dinner in Shanghai and actually being able to hold a conversation in Chinese for longer than 15 mins. or drinking Black Label in a Shebeen in Khayelishta while dancing to Kwaito...I can't decide......

Why I travel:

Because I can't imagine living life and not traveling! I am an eternal student and love learning about the world, its people and languages, not to mention its majestic beauty!

Ideal place to watch the sunrise:

In the desert of Namibia while taking a brisk morning jog

Ideal place to watch the sunset:

Over the ocean of Santa Barbara, California having just climbed to the top of Cathedral Peak (just because it's home)

Before I die I'd like to:

Visit every continent including Antarctica, learn to kite surf, sail, ski, write a novel, run an ultra marathon and the iron man, get that much deliberated Ph.d., save the world, and have a beautiful family of my own with which to share my experiences with. I'd love to be the knowledgeable, well traveled, wise granny whom you can sit and chat with for hours about the good old days while she knits the grandkids a sweater!

I am a Chinese language student who, in the near future, once I've gained a decent amount of Chinese fluency, would like to volunteer for a humanitarian non-profit organization working somewhere in rural China involved in issues such as the environment, public health, education, etc. For the present moment, I am devoted to studying but am open to volunteering in my city: Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China

No...never been to South Africa but it's near the top of my list. That shot was actually taken in Peru, high in the Andes, 3 hours South of Cuzco. Thanks for the comment :)
