I felt the most immersed in a foreign culture when:

I was crammed into a smoke suffused, sour-smelling train for 12 hours en route to Beijing. When the brakes screeched at our destination I heaved my dirty backpack off the floor and ran happily out into the 'fresh' air

Hey Caitlin,

Thanks for the add! I see you know your way around Thailand?! I'm about to leave to Thailand my self! I will be visiting the city of Krabi, Ao Luk then on to Bangkok and some other locations. If you have any extra advice/info you'd like to throw my way, I'm all ears!

1) You never go thirsty: Tropical fruit shakes abound- fresh, vibrant and waiting to be bought for the bargain of 30 baht. You can never go wrong with a pineapple banana shake straight from a mobile cart in the steamy street.
