About me:
I'm currently teaching English in Santiago and planning to travel in South America when I eventually get some holidays later in the year. I spent 4 years living and working in Barcelona, was about to head home, then couldn't quite face it and came here! Current mission is to find good coffee in Chile and generally see where the world takes me. Long term mission is to live by the sea with an over-enthusiastic dog with a wet nose.

Welcome to Matador! I was in Santiago back in November and loved it! If you get the chance to go to Colombia and need any advice, please let me know, or check with Matador members REQ and ricardo_emp, both of whom live in Colombia. We've also published a couple of great articles on Matador about Colombia that you may find helpful:

I’ve never been a walker. It’s my parents’ fault. They met over a soggy map at the Ramblers’ club, admired each others jazzy hiking socks and that was that. Later they chose to torture their children by taking them on walking holidays, dragging us up wintry peaks in...

Having been brought up in miniscule England, I always used to prepare for any journey longer than 30 minutes as if it were an Arctic voyage. I’d consult maps, pack skis and prepare a lunch. Manchester to London takes 2 ½ hours by train. In English terms, this...
