I'm fired up on:

funding projects to help underprivileged communities. Help to preserve unique cultures. Enjoy languages, writing travel stories, learning about other cultures, photography and the arts. I love the mountains and the endless, peaceful stretches of Tibet and Mongolia.

Tunes I rock out to:

I usually listen to the local music, while I travel. It gives a better sense of really being there. That does not necessarily mean I love that music. Otherwise I enjoy good music of all genres except anything too 'heavy metal'.

helping the really underprivileged to get opportunities in life, help them to look into a meaningful future away from crime and prostitution

I felt the most immersed in a foreign culture when:

I stay with local people, who invite me to sleep in their kitchens

Why I travel:

there is no better teacher for life and humility than travel!

Ideal place to watch the sunrise:

after a night on the mountain or in the vast emptiness of the Mongolian steppe

Ideal place to watch the sunset:

sitting on a sand dune in the the Gobi desert

Before I die I'd like to:

get as many children off the streets and into schools as possible!

I decided to trek from Ganden monastery to Samye monastery in the
