About me:

I'm a 23 year old freelance writer with a day job in the film industry - unclear yet as to where my ultimate path will lead. I work to live, though, and live to travel. My family is South African, which has predisposed me with an intense fascination with all of Southern Africa and the ideas surrounding colonialism and marginalized peoples. I feel like I've only seen a fraction of the world, and possibly only ever will - there's just so much to see. Even when you've been to a place, you could go back and have an entirely different experience. I think the world is endless.

Environmental conservation and eco-tourism. The idea of voluntourism (although I'm not yet sure how I feel about it). Marginalized native populations and local culture.

I go almost entirely on recommendations from friends at home and people that I meet.

Travel style:

I like traveling with one or a few other people - big groups make it hard, but I find that sometimes travel companions will drag you to places you didn't think you would enjoy, but then end up loving. Plus, it's great to have people to bounce ideas off of or go into unfamiliar situations with. I always travel light and on a tight budget.

I'm at the local bar. No matter where you are, it's a gathering point and everyone is freed of inhibitions and will chat freely.

Why I travel:

To see my own life from a new perspective each day.

Waking up on the beach in Zanzibar.

Ideal place to watch the sunset:

At the top of Lion's Head (Cape Town) with a full moon to guide you back down the mountain.
