My favourite way to see a country is to live there for an extended amount of time to really soak up the culture and feel of the place. I've been to a lot of places and I don't ever want to stop traveling.

Hey Alexandra, I saw your message on your profile mentioning that you are living in BA teaching ESL. I am considering heading down there within the next 6-8 months and was wondering how it has worked out for you thus far? I have looked at countless volunteer opportunities (more aligned with business, micro-finance, economic development) and have also tossed around the idea of just going to improve my Spanish (loosely at an intermediate level) in a more informal academic enviornment. In many cases the organizations providing these services charge much more to set you up with an unpaid 'internship', volunteer opportunity, or Spanish classes, in which case I am wondering if I can do it on my own once I arrive? Not sure if you have run across any organizations or individuals in your time in BA that have had success doing something similar. If so, any insight would be incredibly helpful.

I am interested in staying at least 3 months, then will work out the visa requirements after that time, but would be willing to commit at least 12 months for the right opportunity.

Very best,
Lindsay

I don’t know a single person who doesn’t enjoy a zoo, young or old.  In my opinion the best school trips were the ones to the zoo, when you set off really early in the morning and toured through all the ‘continents’ during the day.  I was even obsessed with those drive-thru wild safaris...

Since I started working here in Argentina I haven't gone more than two weeks in a row without a long weekend due to a holiday. In the beginning I didn't really pay attention to what the holidays were for because I was too busy enjoying my days off to really care.  But with the passage of time the...
