A lover of the remote, rugged and rowdy--and the lack of crowds that result--I feel at home nowhere quite so much as western Montana. From the granite peaks of the Bitterroot to the bar scene of Missoula to the bear country of Glacier, I can offer insights into exploring Big Sky country in an array of styles including climbing, biking, hiking, boating, skiing and hunting. Although Missoula and its surrounds are what I know best, I am familiar with sweet spots all over the state.

Adam is a writer, teacher, and conservationist working at the nexus between human kind and the spaces we inhabit. Having just begun a Ph.D. in Environmental Studies at UC, Santa Cruz, and with a B.A. in Natural History/Latin American Studies from Carleton College and a M.S. in Environmental Studies from the University of Montana, Adam has long sought an interdisciplinary understanding of the complex interactions between "nature" and society. Deeply inspired by mountains and their cultures, Adam´s recent work has focused on the diverse impacts--from burgeoning tourism to a warming world--reshaping alpine environments around the globe. Adam´s work has been published in Peripheria, Alpinist, The Mountain Gazette, Camas, The American Alpine Journal, and at Matador Travel.

Hello Adam,

Jumping from profile to profile, I became very intrigued and interested in yours.

I also aim to spread environmental awareness through my travels and photos and I am slightly clueless in how to begin actually, even though I know the path will unfold by itself if I stick to it :)
