Today is a rough day for me. A perfect day to begin this travel blog. 

In preparation for our upcoming trip in June, we have made the decision to find homes for our two feline boys. We also are finding a home for our pet rat Ferdinand. His loving and constant companion Ramstien sadly will be given to the Gods today. Ram has tumors under his belly and is suffering. We had hoped to be able to get surgery but the odds of him making it out were slim. Apparently putting an animal such as a rat down for sedation is risky. They are too small to do much to. Also the cost is so extreme with no guarantee of survival that we just couldn’t realistically make that decision to try knowing what lay before us.

 Today I must face the decision jointly made by my family and put him down. I am not sure who will do it, my husband or I. I am not sure I can. So today I am naming Day of the Ram in honor of my beloved pet who though couldn’t speak, told me he loved me in every lick.
