What I Miss Most
|
It isn't family or friends, nor the feeling of sharing a language with all those faces in the crowd. It's the food. Rather, the variety of food. Don't get me wrong, I love Japanese food. However, if there was ever a time I could have wished for a sandwich shop to spring into existence, it would have been during my stay in Japan. Japan is not a sandwich country. Nor did I quite have the same amount on energy consuming rice and meat in Thailand. Again, it's not about the quality: baby bamboo stalks soaked in coconut milk and served with white rice... ooh, how I miss it. I'm just the kind of person who needs a little routine when it comes to his breakfast and lunch, so, even though my body may be traversing time zones and finding itself in the unfamiliar, my stomach remains grounded and happy. Dinner is my one wild card, but snacks are always welcome. Anyone else particular about this? |
