Couchsurfing goes mainstream!
|
I'm watching the Celts / Lakers NBA Finals game and was surprised to see an ad for T-Mobile that featured a nomadic couchsurfer talking about how staying connected with T-Mobile's great network facilitates his vagabond lifestyle. Nice to see some publicity for Couchsurfing, which is one of the coolest websites ever, and interesting to see a commercial targeted so directly to travelers like myself. Here's the video: T-Mobile Couchsurfing And here's a link to Couchsurfing, the terrific online hospitality service, run by volunteers. I couchsurfed and camped across Quebec last fall - read the funniest blog of the trip here: Pig's Head Quebecois For an article about Couchsurfing, check out this BNT piece: What's The Deal With Couchsurfing? |

Yeah, good point Jon. I've got faith though, that the more people who couchsurf, the better the world will be - there's so much ungrounded fear in our society - the more local interactions and cross-cultural friendships, the better.
I saw that ad too. I think it's cool that it's getting publicity, but I just hope it stays a good source for people who travel, and doesn't blow up into a venue for people to abuse the system.
