Email written after an especially drunk weekend, and brutal cross-country Southwest flight(s)

Hey friends, Just got back from my 5-year college reunion, and I had a lot of time on my 13.5 hour trip home Sunday involving the same Southwest plane (that I was unable to step off of), 4 separate airport stops due to inclement weather and a hangover that could subdue a water buffalo. I write to you because on that plane, in my near-dead state, I swore off alcohol (5 times). Employing the transitive property-I thought: if I don't consume alcohol I will I have a previously un-experienced amount of time on my hands, and thusly, I will need to find things to fill that time. If you are still with me.... I believe it was Aristotle who once said "exquisite misery breeds great innovation", and so, in the 8th row middle seat of that plane was born the "somewhat classy things club". As a blatantly pilfed concept from the Office, I aim to, on a semi-irregular basis, go to a play, art opening, symphony, etc. where the focus of the evening is potentially not drinking. Points will obviously be awarded for most outstanding prom attire and number of corsages worn without losing circulation. As of last count, this club has no members. There is no need to commit to the club, the $0.41 annual fee or a monocle, just know that in the next 1-4 months you'll receive an email saying there's an event and if you want to go I'll get you a ticket. In closing, I'm not going to stop drinking because that would be silly, but I am going to make an effort to hit up new things in SF. So I hope you consider a future sctc invitation. Cordially, Stuart W. Poole somewhat classy things club Intern 355 Hermann Street, San Francisco, CA 94117 ps. Behind me in the 9th row was an elderly black women yelling (and pushing) at an over weight man to stop sweating all over her, and that he should seriously consider using a treadmill. Since it was a full flight, they couldn't separate and the argument went on for 30 minutes with me awkwardly 1 foot in front of them.. It's good to be home.
