Peaceful Isolation in California PART 2: Climbing Pyramid Peak

By Ross  |  Location: United States  |  11/28/06

After hiking up from Upper Echo, you'll come over a ridge and see Lake Aloha--which is made up of a vast number of smaller lakes. Across the giant stone amphitheatre that is Desolation, you'll see Pyramid Peak--a 2000 ft tall pile of granite talice. At first glance this area looks like a wasteland, but there is an entire eco-system up there, full of life. There is also tons of adventure to be had. Pyramid Peak is a serious climb, Aloha's waterways are infinite, you won't encounter hardly anyone, and the stars are world class at night. Watch out for mosquitoes after a big year of rain!
