Why do I travel?
Why do I have these feeling inside that wants me to see as many things the world has to offer as possible!?
I'm sitting in my cubicle (not fun...) at work, and I started thinking to myself... why do I want to travel so badly?
Then I realized something.
Why not?!
The world is FULL of things to see, to do, to experience. I would feel like such a fool if I sat around and didn't try to see as many things as humanly possible.
I want it all. And I wanna be selfish about it. HAHA. I literally wanna see everything.
What is everyone else's thoughts?
Why do YOU travel? Why do YOU wanna see the world?

Damn guys... Those are some awesome answers. Esp. regarding the exchange rates helping support your drinking habits. Pretty hilarious!
But you both and some insightful things to say. I mean, I never thought of it as "scaring myself" by traveling... but thats exactly what it is!! If you really think about it, getting on a plane and flying THOUSANDS of miles of everything you know, is pretty terrifying. Leaving your friends, your family, everyone and everything you love just because you can, is not something that is always fun or even "safe", but those of us who need it... need it!? What if we stumble upon a place where everything fits, I mean, yea, home will always be "home" for me in Minnesota... But, I warned my Mom over Thanksgiving that, when I backpack Europe for a month, and if I happen to find some decent job or something, I might not come back for 6-8-10 months?! I'm 23 years old, when else in my life will I EVER have the opportunity to just... basically do whatever I want!
Home is home, but travel gives you the opportunity to see what "home" is for different people all over the world! And you guys are both right too... traveling really does make you appreciate your home much more. All the special people and things you take for granted everyday somehow become so blatantly obvious to you when your gone from them that, its refreshing to kind of get slapped in the face with it again.
Keep the comments coming!!!
I love the insight!
I travel because because the favorable exchange rates support my alcoholism. ;)
Honestly, I'm with Ben--jump headfirst into a place miles from your comfort zone, and home becomes that much more...alive.
Of course, I think we all need to find our place as well. I grew up with too many people that were/are just hanging around, waiting for there hometown to *become* the right place. Sometimes the places we're needed at aren't the same places we've known and loved our whole lives.

Good questions Nick. I travel to expand my understanding of myself and the world. To scare myself. To seek out the beautiful and the ugly. To appreciate being HOME.
I yearn to travel because the grass is always greener. Sometimes I forget how much there is to explore in my own backyard. New people, other cultures, other languages, new adventures. The day to day routine can make me lazy. I have to remind myself to be a "traveler" when I'm at home as well. Curious, engaged and keep challenging myself to step outside of the day to day comfort zone.
See the world, it's an amazing place. But don't forget to change your angle every now and then at home. Interesting things will appear you never knew were there, maybe even from your cubicle.
