Beast Feast

To all you writers out there: this one's for you! Here's an easy story: Think church, think guns, think gun sales at church, think Jesus, think heaven/hell. Think: This should be easy. I've had a fascination with BEAST FEASTs for four years now, though their history spans back at least 10 (based on my BF research). From what I can tell, and from what our yearly invitation states, BEAST FEASTs are designed to attract non-church going men to the Christian faith by way of guns. And it seems to be working. Back in 2000, little ol' Callahan, FL boasted a population of 962 residents. Just last week a sold out crowd of 2,400 hunting enthusiasts gathered at Callahan First Baptist's 8th annual BEAST FEAST. Word even travelled all the way to Mike Huckebee's meet-up website, as the event was listed as a recommended hot spot for 2nd Amendment supporters. Callahan's 2008 BEAST FEAST featured a sanctuary decorated with over $750,000 in animal mounts, along with dozens of vendors selling guns and hunting equipment within church hallways.* Pretty interesting stuff, although my take is that future BEAST FEAST organizers, if truly devoted to saving souls, should probably consider a target shooting range like the one at Green Pond Baptist Church. *Matthew 21:12 seems to have been omitted from their Bibles. Keri,
That's wild, I've never heard of anything quite like that, but then again I'm from New England. You're right about one thing: that would make a great story! Sounds like pure gonzo journalism to me.
Also, I think they're probably citing something more like Matt 10:34 - Think not that I am come to bring peace, but a sword (or in this case, a gun!)

Wow--2nd amendment and God come together so nicely! Almost as well as Kalashnikov and Allah.
I don't think it's too crazy that a gun show would draw such a crowd of non-Christians. God or not, a gun show is a gun show. I'm just shocked that it's such a big deal in the concealed-carry state of Florida.
