I live in the Finger Lakes area of New York.  Yep, and it's beautiful there.  Many people know of the many gorges and waterfalls in places like Watkins Glen and Ithaca, NY, but there are so many more unexplored areas of the Finger Lakes that people miss out on.  Keuka Lake, one of the Finger Lakes, is a very popular summer destination for many people.  If you take the Route 54 up the right side of Keuka Lake there are many spots just off the road that lead you up streams into a gullies with gorgeous natural landscaping.  If anyone is ever in the Hammondsport area of New York, U.S.A, I highly recomend trying to find these areas off the lake. Sometimes there are even waterfalls and giant walls of rock the size of cathedrals!
