I Knew it Had to Happen!

I recently decided to return to North Carolina to finish up my BA degree in History. Somewhat hesitantly I packed up my apartment in Brooklyn and headed back to my roots. Living in NYC and Boston since 2001 was an amazing experience, but I felt like I needed the get THAT DEGREE. I wasn't really looking forward to putting the brakes on my life and giving up touring with bands; but I did and here I am.

North Carolina does have some beautiful scenery and I was blessed with the chance to grow up on the coast surrounded by birds, trees and all sorts of water creatures. One day while feeling nostalgic for a bagel from my local NY deli, I decided to hit the beach and do some wandering. It didn't take me long to realize how nice it was to be out of New York. I loved the lack of noise, the lack of people and the absolute solitude I felt walking through the surf at 7am.<p>I'm deep in school now and my trips back to the beach are pretty infrequent. I have made a point of taking afternoon trips around Greenville to see what's out there. I've found some pretty cool forests and trails. There also tons of interesting old houses gathering moss along the road everywhere. As much as it's been an adjustment for me to return to the slow pace of eastern North Carolina; there some advantages to be found.
