Resolutions can bring powerful transformation to one's life and, in a place of transition, I'm in need of a new resolve. So here it is, for 2008--Live the year as if it's my last.

If this year were my last, where would I be most satisfied? The answer is clear, and globalfemme is resolved to return to her roots. American academic life is an odd paradox--intellectually stimulating yet one dimensional. My passions range wide and I'm resolved to no longer limit myself to the narrow confines of my profession.

This year, I want to:

• Travel outside the US again--Peru, Stockholm, Montreal...even if it's just a few days.
• I want to travel with friends but especially alone--having grown up traveling with family, it's high time to venture out solo.
• I want to write again, not just for publication--bring my thoughts to paper and give them real expression, audience or no audience...God is my audience--deep calling to deep.

This blog is a step towards accountability...here's to a new year!
