What do you do when you have no job, no woman, no kids, and someone close to you ask's, " would you like to try and sail around the world". Do you think to ask about what there experience level is, do you think to ask how long it will take, or do you simply say, " Yes, I am in" This question was asked to me, years ago. and I always said yes. thinking that its a pipe dream and will never happen. Their is too much at stake, too much to plan. The likelyhood of it actually happening was always out of reach. But let me tell you, be careful of what you wish for, because the weather gets sketchy at the end of summer off the east coast of the US, and the boat needs a few repairs, and I don't have much money. The fears get real, when letting go of ones comfy bed, with comfy sheets, and a comfy television to help the night go bye. None of us three have ever been in open sea, none of us have any reason to stay in America right now. We have to leave by June, earlier the better. We need places to stay around this world, I will have to work were ever I can. 2008 has been going by real fast, maybe this will slow things down. I am 27 years old, and have never thought about being a man who sailed the world, But this year I and two others will try, on a very small boat, we will try. |
Looking forward to some tales from the high seas
I'm glad you said yes.
Wow - best of luck, man. Stick to the lee shore before trying to cross an ocean, eh?
