The Anticipation of Travel

It's summer at the university, which finds me with lots of time on my hands to start planning my travel for fall semester. I have been working as an international recruiter for a year and a half now. It finally just occurred to me to start keeping a journal/blog/record of all the crazy experiences and revelations that my job brings with it.

But, now, I just sit in the office. There is just something about the "in-between trips" time that is both great and awful. I think it's nice to be home and get things organized and catch up with friends. BUT...I get bored quickly with routine. Travel and my work on the road are so all-encompassing, and I find myself increasingly dissatisfied with office life in general (even though it IS necessary).

But the downtime is great for taking stock of past travels and planning future ones, right? My plans for fall are as follows:

  • Rio de Janiero and Sao Paulo
  • Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, and Da Nang
  • Istanbul
  • Dubai, Muscat, Doha, Riyadh, Kuwait, and Amman (and maybe Jerusalem and Tel Aviv)
  • Rome
  • Munich (again, but this time for work!)

So, basically, I am just killing time until the great WOOSH of travel this fall and the ever-present, never-unpacked suitcase sitting in my studio apartment. I have trips planned for California, Montreal, and Alabama this summer, so that should hopefully tide me over.....
