The Alpha and a mini-omega

May 1st,

Left from Westminster rowing club next to putney bridge at 1200.  Hooray!  Paddling down the narrow thames under many elaborate bridges, lots of confused faces and inaudible cheers from onlookers as to be expected.  Met by marines and press at St. Catherines dock for some sandwiches before we embarked for dartford.  30 miles in one day and six hours of paddling, pretty good I might say.  Many tired people, but the dartford sea scouts helped us out a lot with some tasty food.  Took May 2nd off to recover and look around the town.

May 3rd,

Day of pain... but life is pain.  Let's just say too many hours of paddling and not very much happiness from the crew all around.  Tide did not help us the way it should, wind was in our faces and mud flats and never ending industrial wasteland made the day somewhat foreboding.  Pictures to follow.  We survived though and are better for it, covered 25 miles to Shearness going maybe 2-3 knots most of the day.  Needless to say, it is May 4th and taking the day off to enjoy Whitstable, a quaint seaside town with tasty chippies.

Talk again sooooon.
