Traveling by Ferry to France

Its great fun traveling by channel ferry crossing from UK to France. Although there are options like Channel Tunnel and affordable airlines but Ferries still remain the ultimate to cross the English Channel. One gets the option of many ferry routes from Uk to France, like Dover to Calais ferry, Dover to Dunkerque ferry, Dover to Boulogne ferry, Portsmouth to St Malo ferry and few others.

My personal favourite is to take a Ferry from Dover to Dunkerque. Only Norfokline ferries operates on this route thus making the channel route less congested and I guess the running time is quite less than other routes. The reason, ferry travel is much more delightful than traveling by road or plane is that the surroundings are so scenic and the onboard experience is memorable. And the best thing about cross channel ferries is that you can take your car with you. I adored my maiden trip by ferry to France so much that I can’t stop talking about the merits of traveling to France by ferry on short breaks or holidays.

There are few things that one needs to take note of while travelling by ferry. You get the best ferry fares if you book online. On the day of travel, arrive well in advance of departure time for the early morning crossing from Dover – it helps to get the seats of your choice. The ferry I travelled by had a great ambience. It had all the world class facilities with nice suites, bar & restaurants. It actually takes somewhere around 2 hours to reach Dunkerque from France. During this time, passengers have a range of options to choose. Families with children have the choice to let their young ones play in the children's play area which never closes. Adults making the passage can have a drink in the bar or do some shopping in the store on ship. Prices at the store aboard the ferry to France are much lower than expected due to the French duty rates paid.

Once you reach Dunkerque, you can say its one paradise unexplored. Relaxing on the sandy beach, the Dunes de Flandre is a good idea while enjoying the water sports show. The good thing about Dunkerque is that it has got a good hypermarket which is like shopper's dream. If you are planning for something big then Dover dunkerque ferry route is the best among ferry crossings as Dunkerque provides shorter drive times Belgium, Holland, Germany, Switzerland and beyond.
